In Reply to: Homeschooling prior to our move to Pa and still homeschooling. Many questions!!!! posted by Tina on May 13 2008 at 23:24:11:
Here are some answers. Your questions are indented, my answers follow them.
Since we arrived at the end of April, do we need to comply with PA homeschooling requirements for this school year?It depends upon your future plans. If your plans are for a high school diploma or to put her back in school then you might need to comply with the PA home education law.
Could someone please clarify what "until the age of 17 years in the compulsory school age law means? The law states, "From time the child enters school, ´which shall not be later than the age of eight (8) years, until the age of seventeen (17) years´It means that students can drop-out as soon as they turn 17.
Since my daughter turned 17 at the beginning of 2008, if we continue homeschooling for the remaining two years of high school, are we required to follow the homeschooling requirements for PA?You would have to do so if you want a recognized diploma under PA law. Otherwise she would officially be considered a drop-out.
