I had the exact same situation. What I did -- for what itīs worth -- was have her tested when she was in 3rd grade, and kept the test results on hand along with the rest of her work for the year (she actually wanted a portfolio like her big sister, so I made her one). I ended up testing her again in 4th grade and submitted that with our 4th grade portfolio the year she was eight, but that was definitelo optional on my part, and the only reason I did was that we were kicking around the idea of putting them in school and I wanted it on record that she had finished 4th grade (and done well at that level!).
But as for filing, you definitely do NOT need to report her early just because she is going to be doing 3rd grade work. Eight is eight, whatever the grade level.
