You can start homeschooling him at any time. In fact, some would say you already are! As you are now teaching him to zip up his coat and use the potty and not jump on the couch, you can gradually begin to include more academic topics. Reading together is a wonderful way to begin. Follow his interests, and introduce things you´re interested in or you think he would like. Explore nature. Take home some tadpoles or caterpillars and raise them. Watch some ants. Build something. Do a map puzzle. Count things. Go to a historical reenactment. See a play. Go to the library and take home armfuls of books. Play with LEGOs. Bake. Find some other homeschooler-preschooler families to hang out with. Rinse and repeat.
If he does not attend school for first grade or above, you don´t need to register with your school district until he is 8.
