If you don´t file the affidavit, then your child is officially a drop-out. That would rule him or her out of the priveleges that go to those who have high school diploma or its equivalent.
I hear several times a month from homeschool grads whose parents dropped them out and thereby made their lives more difficult. Sometimes these parents gave their kids a parent-issued diploma, but such a diploma often doesn´t cut it.
There are colleges they can´t get into, jobs they can´t keep, and promotions that they can´t get. These grads, of course, blame their parents for being too lazy or cheap to get them a recognized diploma from a homeschool organization while that was still possible.
