The law says the supervisor must have "a high school diploma or its equivalent". I think most reasonable people would consider a GED or a college degree to count as "equivalent". Only one parent would need this qualification.

There are certainly all kinds of situations where parents might have qualifications where a judgement call would have to be made as to whether they were the "equivalent" of a high school diploma. I´m thinking of parents who were educated overseas, for example.

In actual practice, parents do not need to submit a copy of their high school diploma, they only need to include a statement in their affidavit stating they have "a high school diploma or its equivalent". It really only becomes an issue if some other issue prompts the school district to look more closely at the home education program.
