I have a thirteen year old who was supposed to be home schooled by his mother. We received custody of him and in trying to place him in school for sept. we have had him tested. It turns out that he is educated to about the second grade level. What kind of laws protects the child when the person home schooling him is doing a terrible job at it. There is no way that a 13 year old can be put with second graders. So what am I supposed to do to get him where he is supposed to be academically? I took him to Sylvan learning center and they want $3,200.00 a month. That is impossible for me to pay. Is there any grants or something that can assist in giving him an education since the system definitely failed him? How can this happen when he is supposed to be periodically tested? Please help me by giving me some information on how to help him.
