Fiber Artist, Sue Shelly, Welcomes Students to her Home Studio in Spinnerstown, Pa
Sue´s background in art includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Kutztown University, with a special interest in weaving and fiber arts. Her experience ranges from silk painting and dyeing, to spinning, knitting and weaving done on 4 and 8 harness looms using various weave structures: twill, advancing twill, tapestry, transparent tapestry, double weave, overshot, bound-weave, summer/winter, log cabin, shadow weave, etc.
The studio is equipped with several looms. Some are already warped with specific projects, and custom lessons can also be developed according to student interest and skill level.
Sue has experience working with children and sharing her craft, as an aide in a learning support classroom, an instructor for a home-school arts program, and also a demonstrator of colonial spinning and weaving in historic Bethlehem, Pa. She also displays and sells her own pieces at local Fine Art and Craft Shows.
