The *general* directions are read to the students-- but they need to read the *specific* directions within each test section for themselves, I´m afraid. After all, beyond the ´general´ directions that they are to read the following stories and answer the questions, the ´directions´ ARE the reading task :-).
It´s only on the Fall 3rd grade testing that the proctor (me :-) ) actually reads detailed directions to the students aloud. Say, on that level, I read aloud *every* math problem, and every science and social studies question... and I also read aloud specific directions for language arts questions. Once you´re at the next level up, this is no longer the case.
