I also agree with giving him less than a month at a time on his schedule. Perhaps you could give him a list of the things he needs to do for a week, and then buy him a "teacher´s planner" (the kind that shows Monday through Friday in the columns and 5-6 periods for rows). Label the rows according to the general subjects he is studying, and work with him to construct a reasonable schedule for the week. He could show, for example, math daily, a science project that spanned two or three days, reading, etc all scheduled for the week. This way he has some control over his schedule, but you are setting the amount of work that must be done in the week. BTW, it is a hard circumstance that many of us face. Mnay of us had one child who seems to need little oversight, and another who needs to be dragged along each day. Be diligent and you will see rewards.
