The AP wire service story also mentions that the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) did not take a position on this bill. As a former member, I continue to get HSLDA´s Pennsylvania e-mail mailings. I have been looking for mentions of SB 361 for the past month, as the bill neared its crucial final hurdle, and I never noticed them sending out anything at all about it. (They do have something very brief about it on their website.)
PA Homeschoolers policy is to let people know about legislation affecting homeschoolers, whether or not we support it. HSLDA may have a different approach. Their members should be aware that HSLDA is very selective about what they send out.
If you´re a member and get an e-mailing from HSLDA telling you that this bill just passed, please ask them why they never e-mailed you anything about it when its passage was still in question, and then please post here to share their answer with us.
