I agree completely with Susanīs comments. It was very exciting for Samantha and I to be present for the signing ceremony. I was amazed and thrilled that the Governor had a true handle on issues involved, such as basic fairness and prejudice, and his desire to just do the right thing. I also appreciated some remarks he made about the reasons families choose to homeschool and set the record straight that the relationship between public schools and homeschoolers should not be adversarial.
Our family is extremely thankful to everyone who worked to see the legislation come about from those like Peter Hrycenko who testified before the legislature years ago and never gave up, to Howard Richman and others of you who spread the word to make all the phone calls to the Governorīs office. We also appreciate the people in our community who always saw it as a "they pay taxes, why shouldnīt they be able to participate" issue and all the congressmen who worked on this issue for years and those who voted and supported it and got it to the Governorīs desk.
