I am considering homeschooling and I have posted messages here one other time. If I decide to homeschool, how much authority does the school district have? Are they required to approve or can they hold it against me because they donīt care for me. I take an advocate to my meetings, and I hold their feet to the fire, and of course they donīt like it. I went to a parent/teacher conf. yesterday and walked away with a folder that wasnīt meant for me to read. I found a handwritten note in the file, which is the IEP file passed around to his teachers, with their signatures that they have read it. This handwritten, unsigned note was about my son and myself. IT says that he is lazy, lazy contributes to his assignment delays, that mom supports his behaviors with regard to assignments not done, absences, etc. It then states" Follow IEP exactly, mom looks for flaws/gaps/anything *be careful of wording". PA State law says that they have to follow the IEP. Iīm just upset because this is 7th grade, high school where we go and this is his first year. I think itīs unfortunate that someone passed on their personal feelings about us and teachers are reading it, without knowing the history. This note doesnīt mention his separation anxiety, his learning disability, his adhd or the issues that we have struggled with for 7 years. I am just wondering what power they have. Can they legally stop me, if I amfollowing procedure and give the required paperwork?
