Susan,
Thanks for sharing that.... I had wracked my brain, trying to remember what had happened back in ī88 - and just couldnīt remember anything about the signing. No wonder!
I also agree about writing.... In the past, I have found it very effective to write legislators, sometimes receiving replies. And, thank youīs are especially appreciated, I think. (Theyīre no different from us!)
I was pleasantly surprised, even shocked, by some of the Governorīs words at the signing. "Did I hear him say that home education is undervalued??!" I asked myself. Wow! I could have cheered at that point. "Did I hear him agree with the Senator about the bias against homeschoolers by educators??!" (thinking about his relationship with the teachersī union) Wow, again. It seemed to me that the Gov. had a good understanding about things when he explained that it used to be that you were either for public schooling or for homeschooling - but thatīs no longer the case (my paraphrase.) And, as Susan said, it was great just getting invited to the ceremony. To me, having my kids see the actual signing of a piece of legislation into law was the real prize.
Thanks, Howard, for keeping us all informed, too. I know that took a lot of time!
