Today´s Chester Daily Local included a very positive editorial. Here´s a selection:
A homeschooler should be able to try out for his or her local public school’s soccer team or audition for its latest production of the "Music Man." Now, Pennsylvania law says they can.HowardOn Thursday, Gov. Ed Rendell signed Senate Bill 361, which gives homeschooled students the right to participate in extracurricular activities provided by their school districts....
The next hurdle is to get public schools to let homeschooled students into their schools for a class here or there. As of the 2003-04 school year, less than half the state’s school districts opened their classroom doors to homeschoolers, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
We can envision the day when lawmakers make school districts open their doors to homeschoolers. Here’s hoping Chester County’s school districts do themselves proud again and open these doors voluntarily before they’re told to do so by lawmakers.
