12^th Annual Central PA Spring Volleyball Tournament

Who can participate:

· Co-ed senior teams (all participants must be age 18 or below as of Sept. 1, 2007)

· Co-ed junior teams (all participants must be age 14 or below as of Sept 1, 2007)

[All participants must be homeschooled or cyber-charter schooled students in grades 6-12. Teams play six players at a time including at least 2 boys and 2 girls.]

When:

· Monday, April 13, 2009, 8 AM -- 6 PM. Teams will be scheduled for their first matches as soon as they arrive and sign in. Those traveling from a distance can arrive as late as 10:30 am and still play a full tournament schedule. You do not need to plan to be there on time since less than a third of the teams will begin to play right at 8AM.

Where: Hitchcock Arena (5 courts); Brubaker Auditorium (2 courts), Messiah College, near Harrisburg PA.

· Exit the Pennsylvania Turnpike at the Gettysburg Pike Exit (Exit 236; Rt. 15). Travel approximately 3.5 miles on Route 15 South toward Gettysburg and take the Lisburn Road exit. At the light at the bottom of the ramp, turn left onto Lisburn Road. Follow Lisburn through the next traffic light and up to the stop sign at the top of the hill. Continue straight on Lisburn and turn right onto Grantham Road at the bottom of the hill. Follow Grantham Road straight ahead to the stop sign at the main entrance to the College. Turn Right onto College Avenue. On your left is Hitchcock Arena which is part of the Sollenberger Sports Center. Some of the senior division matches will take place in Brubaker Auditorium which is in the adjacent building (the Eisenhower Campus Center).

How:

· There will be two age groups (Junior and Senior) with each being divided into A, B. and C divisions with A being for better teams who want to play against the best competition and C being for beginner teams. Each division will be completely separate. During the final round of a Swiss-system style tournament, the matches that the top four teams play will be a playoff (first vs. fourth, second vs. third) with the winners playing in a championship match.

· The championship matches will follow the playoff matches and will be followed by an awards ceremony.

Cost:

· Entry fee is $115 per team payable to PA Homeschoolers. (An additional $5 per team will be charged if you do not e-mail in a team roster with each player's AAU number before the tournament.) All players must be AAU members (To join go to www.aausports.org or call 800-AAU-4USA; You can use Pennsylvania Homeschoolers Club Number: WPVBYXYKB9.)
