That´s a hard question to answer because there are so many variables-- some AP classes are extremely rigorous and cover more material than a typical college class by the same name (also, by taking the AP exam, you have an independent verification of how well you mastered the material).

And yet, some post-secondary classes, at reputable four-year universities, are the "real thing," with higher expectations, critical thinking, discussions, analysis, than you might find within a high school AP class.

So which is better? We´ve faced the same decision and have decided to start with a college class but still take the AP exam after finishing the course. But we will probably add regular AP courses as well, online ones, since the college courses will not be full time for us.
