Hi Kristen, I donīt know how colleges view community college courses vs AP-donīt know where you got that info. My son who is a senior took 3 courses at the local community college this fall and all the schools he applied to spoke favorably of them during his interviews. This gave them a chance to see that he could do well in college. The one expensive private school he applied to just sent us a letter accepting all the credits. My daughter also took 2 courses her senior year and her college accepted all the credits. I would not see a reason to take a college course and an AP test-you have already spent $ on the college course and the credit is real credit. I am glad that they took the courses because it gave them exposure to the classroom and also some extra credits to help free them up to take some other courses in college. Some use these to finish college early. But mine both have/will have full majors with few elective credits. Also, my local school district did pay some for one of his courses this fall under some grant money given by the state. This seems to be different in different school districts. So it might pay to ask your local high school principal or counselor if such finds are available for dual enrollment-these are district wide funds and not just for public schools. Ours only paid for part of 1 course and they had to be seniors. School district had to apply in Feb for next yearīs funds I think, so they may say that they donīt have the $ for you-but you could always just ask! :) Laura
