ROOTS by Alex Haley--A classic?--for Howard/Susan

Hi, usually I donīt see ROOTS by Alex Haley on the list of classics, and yet I would consider it one. Can I count it as one? Also, it is 680 some pages as well. Would I be able to count this as 2 classic books? Thanks for your help.
