An article by Michelle Lee in the Atlantic City (NJ) Press reports that a team of homeschooled students just won the New Jersey mock trial competition. Here´s a selection:

A team of seven home-schooled students from Atlantic and Cape May counties litigated their way to the top Thursday, winning a state mock trial title. The Crossway Home Learners defeated a mock trial team from Livingston High School, Essex County, at the 2007-08 Vincent J. Apruzzese High School Mock Trial Finals. The event was sponsored by the New Jersey State Bar Foundation and took place at the New Jersey Law Center in New Brunswick....

"We all worked together really well and we all played the best we could," Griffith said....

Corinthea Harris said the team practiced every day for at least two hours and sometimes worked as long as four hours to learn the case and the law.

"The entire year has been amazing. This team has great chemistry," she said.

Gary Griffith, Sam´s father and one of the attorneys who helped coach the team, said they played well right from the beginning. He noted that prior home-schooled teams were the county champions in 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006 and 2008....
