In order to be legal, you need to file the home education affidavit before 2 weeks are up in the school year for your 8-year-old. Otherwise, your 8-year-old would be truant.
You can find the affidavit and all of the other info you would need to comply with the PA home education law if you get our "Guide to PA Homeschool Law" (just $4.95 if you click on "Enter Store" on the sidebar and then click on "Our Publications).
