When you submit your affidavit and objectives to the superintendant (not the school board), you are giving them notice that you are homeschooling, you are not asking for their permission to do so.

As long as you meet the requirements (as outlined in the law, such as having a diploma or equivalent) they cannot say you cannot tell you that you cannot homeschool.

What are you not sending them? Other than the affidavit/objectives at the beginning of the year, and the portfolio at the end of the year, there isnīt anything else they would need. There are medical/dental checks in certain years, but there is nothing else I can think of that they could be wanting from you.

Are you a member of the HSLDA? If you are, you can email or call and ask if what your district is threatening is legal -- if it is more than the law requires, they can make a call for you.

I would go to Paulineīs site and read up on everything -- she has it all there, for free, and well organized: www.askpauline.com
