Elsie,  Howard has stated many times on this board and publicly at the HB2560 hearings that parents can not be trusted to educate their children unless the state holds them accountable.  This is not what scripture teaches or what our Founding Fathers believed!  Can you imagine John Hancock turning over to the state documents about how he educated his own children when he smuggled tea behind the British blockade of Boston?  He wouldn´t let the government tell him what tea to drink.  Today we think it is fine that the government tells us what light bulb to buy.

Why are people so afraid of freedom?  How would your student have been harmed if this suit had ´won´?  In CA where I home educated before which has no home education law, those parents who wanted to be accountable to an outside agency could and those of us who wanted to do our own things were allowed to do so.

I do not think your children would have been affected by nonrecognition of their diplomas.  That is misinformation.  I have 4 students with parent-issued diplomas and none of them have had any discrimination because of their diplomas in college or job applications.  One of my sons is employed by a law office and has graduated from law school with a parent-issued diploma.  I do have one student with a PHAA diploma, so I can compare the differnce in college applications and it is minimal.  It is actually easier since I send all my own transcripts, etc.  We cut out the middle man!

My thoughts,

Sharon
