The Vancouver Sun reports that a homeschooled team has won the local Lego Robotics tournament, shown in the above video, at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Here is a selection from the Sun´s story:
This year´s challenge was to explore transportation issues by building robots that completed tasks on a table top race track and it was the Circuit Stormers from Victoria that took home the big prize.
"We all just have fun building robots," said Duncan Silversides, 11, who joined fellow home-schooled students Liam Donaldson, 11, Michael Furmek, 13, and Helen Leslie, 9, to build their robot named Circuit.
The Circuit Stormer´s mission was to complete a series of tasks like moving the robot up and down ramps, avoiding obstacles, and collecting rubber rings for points during a 2 1/2-minute circuit.
"I designed the four wheel drive robot so it´s easier to go around things and go over," explained Donaldson.
