I´ve posted a few messages trying to get some information about when there is testing and where for 8th grade because I am concerned for my son, I hope someone will read this and have some info that will help me to know what ,if any options I have for testing him since the WRAT test is no longer in PA and my evaluator is not offering any other test.
I am very concerned about what we are going to do because my 14 year old son has (presently) an undetermined heart condition that we are going to specialists to find out more about that is adversely affected by stress putting him in danger. He has an anxiety disorder and asthma which both affect his heart. We have had to take him on doctors order out of all extracurricular activities until more is known about his irregular heart beat, chest pain and too long spacing between heartbeats with dizziness, faintness etc. induced both without seeming cause sometimes, but usually induced by physical activity and emotional/ mental stress, with anxiety and asthma attacks. It is a very scary situation for us. A new test in a room full of students in unfamiliar surroundings, after taking the WRAT 1 on 1 with his evaluator at his home ( and even that caused some mild anxiety) we feel, as parents we would be putting our son in a situation dangerous for his life, and we just can not do that.
His test anxiety is enhanced not only because of his inherited anxiety condition, but also due to learning disabilities, with math and mild dyslexia with spelling
PLEASE can someone help us?
