Is there anyone local who can tutor him? Perhaps a retired engineer in your neighborhood? As you said, if he is to do engineering he needs a solid background in geometry. An in-person tutor can watch him work and see where he is going wrong, plus use 3-D models to help him visualize the problems. Ask around your friends & neighbors, or perhaps there´s someone in your place of worship who´d be interested. Good luck!
