Currently we are a group of about 40 families, with approximately 20 families regularly involved in weekly activities. We have a weekly Friday afternoon gym class from 1-2 at the Bigler YMCA for all ages of students (split into several groups). Each month we focus on a different sport or skill. Also, for six weeks each fall and spring, a content-area co-op class is offered for students. Topics have included science, art, music, and geography in the past, with classes taught by parent volunteers or local professionals in a chosen subject area. Parent meetings are held once a month. Each year we have several field trip opportunities, an opening family picnic, Christmas caroling to a local nursing home, an annual Academic Fair, and a year-end trip to DelGrosso´s Amusement Park. Opportunities are provided several times a year for moms and/or moms & dads to socialize and support one another. Come and join us!

STARS -- contact Tracey Hanwell (HanwellWeb at comcast.net). We are a Christian co-op that meets twice a month. We do classes in elementary, middle school, and high school, according to the current needs of our families and availability of teachers. There is a nursery class, and a pre-school class is added when needed. During the course of each regular session there is a worship time for the students and a prayer time for the parents. Every family is expected to have one attending parent every time we meet, and all parents are expected to either lead teach, assist teach, or take a leadership role in the co-op. For the past few years we have had a drama club which gives a public performance in May and we plan to continue that tradition. In spring of 2007 we also began a debate club which focuses on policy debate. Optional field trips and service projects round out our program, along with an annual Safety Day.

All ages are welcome, but most of our children are over age ten with a larger concentration being pre-teens and teens. All methods of educating our children are used. However, enrichment classes and diploma meetings are geared towards PA ACT 169 homeschooling.

Our group is "inclusive" in that religious preference or practice is not an issue in our interactions with each other. We are a homeschool group based in Emmaus, primarily serving Lehigh and Northampton counties with close interaction to others in Bucks, Berks, and Montgomery counties. All ages are welcome, but most of our children are over age ten with a larger concentration being pre-teens and teens. All methods of educating our children are used. However, enrichment classes and diploma meetings are geared towards PA ACT 169 homeschooling. Our goal is to support one another, provide each other with information about homeschooling, and to provide activities for our children and our moms. We are not affiliated with a particular religion; however, most members are Christian. Therefore, occasional prayer requests may be seen. We meet at the Water Tower Recreation Center on Hartwell Lane (2 blocks east of Germantown Avenue) in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia every Friday afternoon from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. During inclement weather we play in the gymnasium; otherwise, we can be found outside. Homeschooled kids have an opportunity for unstructured, peaceful, free play while parents provide one another support, network and exchange resources and information. We are inclusive and new homeschoolers are welcome anytime.
